Typing speed test
Net words per minute and accuracy on a fixed passage.
Please confirm the order number before you promise a refund. Write the next step in one sentence, then ask whether the person wants email or a phone call. Keep the tone calm when they are upset.
What this tool does
The typing test on the everyone hub times a single fixed passage about confirming an order number before promising a refund. You type what you see. Words per minute are the characters that match the passage, divided by five, divided by the minutes elapsed. Accuracy is matching characters divided by what you typed, as a percent. The saved score is that accuracy, not the speed. Elapsed time is at least one second, so a instant submit does not divide by zero. The passage is 194 characters. Typing it perfectly in 60 seconds is 39 words per minute at 100 percent accuracy, because 194 divided by 5 is 39 in one minute.
How to use it
Read the passage once. Start, type, and submit. Do not copy and paste. Correct a typo if you notice it, because a wrong character at that position counts against both speed and accuracy. The test does not adjust for a keyboard layout and it does not rank you against other visitors. Use it to see whether a support-style paragraph is comfortable at your pace.
Worked example
The whole passage, typed with every character in the right place and submitted at 60 seconds, scores 39 wpm and 100 percent. The same perfect text submitted at 30 seconds would be about twice the speed, because the correct-character count is unchanged and the minutes are halved. One wrong character in a full-length attempt drops accuracy below 100 and also removes that character from the speed count. The customer-support hub has the same passage, framed for a reply rather than a general warm-up. The jobs link on this page opens the published job list, with no keyword forced. An empty list means nothing published matched. It is not a comment on the wider market. A signed-in candidate can save the attempt on their profile. Saving is not an application, and it does not show the attempt to an employer. Employers see people who apply to their own jobs.
Questions
- Which number is saved?
- Accuracy. Words per minute are shown so you can see pace, and the stored score is the accuracy percent.
- Does a faster time always win?
- Only if the characters still match. Extra wrong characters raise the denominator and lower accuracy.
- Is the passage different every visit?
- No. It is fixed, so a second attempt is comparable with your first.
