GST calculator
Tax from an amount and a rate you choose, exclusive or inclusive.
What this tool does
The GST calculator turns one rupee amount and one rate into a base, a tax, and a total. Exclusive mode treats your amount as the taxable value and adds GST. Inclusive mode treats your amount as the figure the buyer pays and backs the tax out. Inclusive tax is amount times rate divided by 100 plus the rate, then rounded to two decimal places. The buttons 5, 12, 18, and 28 only fill the rate box. They do not decide whether the supply is taxable, exempt, or nil-rated, and they do not pick a rate from a description of the goods. The tool shows one tax figure. It does not split CGST and SGST, and it does not label the figure as IGST. If you already know the supply is intra-state, that one figure is what you would share between CGST and SGST. If it is inter-state, the same figure is the IGST. Place of supply is your judgment.
How to use it
Type the amount on the bill. Type the rate, or tap a preset and change it if the invoice uses another rate. Choose exclusive when the amount is before tax, and inclusive when the amount is the gross the buyer pays. A zero or blank amount is refused. The result is arithmetic for the rate you selected. It is not a GSTR-1 or GSTR-3B, and it does not keep a ledger.
Worked example
Taxable value ₹10,000 at 18 percent, exclusive: tax is ₹1,800 and the total is ₹11,800. The same total of ₹11,800 entered as inclusive at 18 percent returns base ₹10,000 and tax ₹1,800, because 11,800 times 18 divided by 118 is 1,800. Use that pair to check that the two modes are inverses of each other before you trust a third invoice. The jobs link on this page searches HiringBuddy for published roles matching “accountant”. An empty list means nothing published matched. It is not a comment on the wider market. A signed-in candidate can save the attempt on their profile. Saving is not an application, and it does not show the attempt to an employer. Employers see people who apply to their own jobs.
Questions
- Does 18 percent apply automatically?

- What if the amount is zero?
- The tool asks for a positive amount and a rate you chose.
